Their wish was to have a competition between regional teams which is a social event as well as having a high standard of fencing. Teams are selected by each region and any fencer wanting to fence can contact BVF and be placed in a team. There are usually spaces for everyone except men’s epee which can be oversubscribed. - [International](https://veterans-fencing.co.uk/result-category/international/) - There are two major international veteran events to which BVF sends a selected squad to represent Great Britain: The World Championships and the European Team Championships. The European Team Championships are held every other year. The European Individual Championships is held every other year. This is an open competition where all veteran fencers can compete amongst veterans from all over Europe. European Veterans Fencing (EVF) holds a circuit of competitions every year in countries throughout Europe. Points are earned throughout the season and the winner becomes the European Veteran Fencer of the Year. See the EVF website for details of the Circuit. The event takes its turn in each host country and teams are chosen by the Home Nation organisations. - [Qualifiers](https://veterans-fencing.co.uk/result-category/qualifiers/) - Three qualifying competitions are held each season (EVF Guildford, the Nationals and the Age Groups) to select the squad representing Great Britain in the World Championships and the European Team Championships. BVF members are allotted ranking points according to their placings in these competitions, which are compiled in the Ranking list.
