Three qualifying competitions are held each season (EVF Guildford, the Nationals and the Age Groups) to select the squad representing Great Britain in the World Championships and the European Team Championships.
BVF members are allotted ranking points according to their placings in these competitions, which are compiled in the Ranking list. The best two results from the three competitions are aggregated to give fencers an overall score for the season, which informs selection for the Great Britain squad.
